UNPFII 2025 Side Events on Indigenous Rights

Join us for two powerful side events at the 24th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, hosted by the Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy Program (IPLP) in partnership with Land is Life and other global allies. These sessions highlight Indigenous-led efforts to advance Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and the right to self-determination through lived experiences, protocols, and good practices. Interpretation in English and Spanish will be provided.
1. Advancing Indigenous Peoples’ Right to Self-Determination: Challenges and Good Practices (April 21, 2025)
Hosted by IPLP in partnership with Land is Life and many other amazing organizations, this UNPFII side event highlights both the challenges and successful practices in advancing Indigenous Peoples’ right to self-determination. Featuring global leaders and experts, the session will explore strategies for strengthening Indigenous self-governance. Interpretation will be available in English and Spanish.

2. Indigenous-led Protocols on Free, Prior and Informed Consent (April 23, 2025)
Hosted by IPLP in partnership with Land is Life and many other amazing organizations, this UNPFII side event centers Indigenous-led protocols on Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). Global Indigenous leaders will share how FPIC advances the rights to self-determination and self-government. Interpretation will be available in English and Spanish.
