Other business-related areas in which many governments need to strengthen policy coherence include developing holistic policies on environmental impact assessments, large-scale development projects, land management and forest conservation and the need to meet the requirement for free, prior and informed consent when the lives, livelihoods and cultures of indigenous peoples are at stake. Similarly, the absence of a comprehensive normative and policy framework on eviction, resettlement and compensation calculations in the context of economic development projects has triggered repeated human rights conflicts.
