The Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe has an opportunity to purchase land if they can raise $1.5 million by April 4, 2024.  Their total fundraising goal is $2.4 million to pay for improvements and an operating endowment.  The land purchase would allow the Nisenan to purchase one of their village sites; there, they plan to reclaim kinship, ceremony, provide much needed Elder housing, and renew their relationship with the land.  The purchase would also represent the first time the Tribe has had land in many decades; the Tribe was terminated in 1964 by the U.S. government and their land was sold at auction.
