Parallel Report to CERD on Guatemala: Indigenous Peoples, Protected Areas, and Human Rights

The University of Arizona Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy Program Indigenous Rights & Protected Areas Initiative has submitted the parallel report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) for Guatemala’s review at the 116th session (Geneva, 17 Nov–5 Dec 2025). The report documents patterns of forced evictions, criminalization, and barriers to remedy affecting Indigenous Peoples  in and around protected areas, and tracks non-compliance with key court and IACHR measures—highlighting Laguna Larga.
