Pranab Doley
Pranab Doley belongs to the indigenous Mising community of Assam. He holds an MSW degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has had academic engagements with students and activists from across the globe fighting for the rights of indigenous communities as well as working towards sustainable development. He has founded and cofounded an array of organisations by the likes of CNAPA, All Kaziranga Affected Communities’ Rights Committee, People Ecology Network, Jyoti Bishnu cultural and Research Centre, providing a platform for community peoples and practitioners to engage with evolving socio-political and environment related issues. He has stood in the fore front of socio-political movements to voice the concerns of the extremely poor and marginalised sections of the society. To that end he has borne the brunt of excesses from government agencies, having been falsely accused and arrested many times over. He also contested Elections as a candidate of the Opposition Alliance from Bokakhat constituency and finished in the second place with massive mandate of the people in the Assembly elections of 2021. He continues his Socio-Political engagements, working for peoples’ rights, also seeking to conserve their heritage and traditional practices along with a global and modern outlook.
