Joseph Itongwa Mukumo
Joseph Itongwa Mukumo is Walikale from the North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Graduated in Rural Development, he is the Founder and Co-ordinator of PIDP-SHIRIKA LA BAMBUTI (Integration Programme for the Development of the Pygmy People): an indigenous organization operating in South -Kivu, North-Kivu et Maniema in Democratic Republic of Congo. Joseph is the Co-ordinator of the Network of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems (REPALEF) in Democratic Republic of Congo, a Member group of the Indigenous Peoples’ and Community Conserved territories and Areas (ICCA Consortium). He is also been a member of the technical committee of a similar network that covers the whole of Central Africa (REPALEAC). Joseph took part in many programmes to reinforce the capacities of Indigenous Peoples of Africa in the field of conservation and biodiversity and in many international meetings related to the biological diversity.
