Legborsi Saro Pyagbara
Legborsi Saro Pyagbara is the current Executive Director of the African Indigenous Foundation for Energy And Sustainable Development, an organisation developing programmes and projects in the areas of environment, human rights, and sustainable development. He is a currently member of the Sub-Committee of the Global Climate Action Program. Saro has more than 20 years of experience in protecting the human rights of Indigenous Peoples at the national, regional and international levels and in participating in negotiations related business and human rights, biological diversity and climate change. Saro has notably worked 13 years for the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, an indigenous organization operating in Southeastern Nigeria, as President and International Advocacy Officer. He was observer of the Climate Investment Fund between 2012 and 2020, member of the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Group of the Global Environment Facility between 2013 and 2016 and Indigenous Peoples Focal Point for Africa of the Global Environment Facility between 2009 and 2017.
